In 1990, a Super Bowl Sunday prayer inspired a group of young people to do something more than celebrate a football game. They created the Souper Bowl of Caring, and have mobilized youth across the country to raise more than $41 million for people in need.
The EBC youth celebrated the day by inviting the congregation to stay for lunch. They provided grilled cheese & chicken salad sandwhiches plus chicken noodle and vegetable beef soup. Over 100 people stayed for lunch to support the youth.
After the lunch mess was cleaned up, they loaded up the van and headed over to the Union County Community Shelter to deliver the money & canned goods.
The rest of the afternoon was spent in fellowship as the youth returned to the church and spent time playing games, eating and waiting on the Kick-Off for the Football Super Bowl. During halftime, they viewed a dvd featuring LaDainian Tomlinson, where he shared his testimony and talked about how important his faith is. He told of how he has tried to live by the words of Luke 12:48. "To whom much is given, from him shall more be required."
