Membership
I want to join, but what do I do first?
Either speak to one of the pastors on Sunday morning during the invitation at the end of a service or contact ebcoffice@carolina.rr.com or (704) 289-2632.
What kinds of questions will I be asked?
In order to join Ebenezer Baptist Church, you must have put your faith in Jesus Christ by receiving Him as your Savior. You will be asked if you have ever made such a commitment. If you have not, it will be explained to you how to make that commitment. You will also be asked if you have been baptized by immersion after your surrender to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Will I have to be baptized to become a member?
Not if you have committed your life to Christ and have been baptized by immersion in a church that has the same doctrinal beliefs concerning salvation and baptism by immersion as ours. If you are unsure of the doctrinal beliefs, our pastor will be glad to help you determine if you need to be baptized. If you have not enjoyed the beauty of Believer’s baptism, you will need to schedule your baptism with our pastor. You will also be asked to attend the New Member’s Orientation about which you will be contacted.
I am a member of another Southern Baptist Church. Do I need to notify them that I am joining another church?
No. We will contact your former church, requesting that they transfer your membership to Ebenezer Baptist Church.
What if I have accepted Christ, been baptized by immersion, but I am coming from another denomination or church of like faith and practice?
You may join Ebenezer on your statement of faith and previous baptism. This means you are making a public statement to our church that you have accepted Christ as your Savior, and you have been baptized by immersion.
What else will I need to do?
At the end of the invitation time in the service you chose to respond, you will be introduced to the church so we can celebrate your decision. Once you complete your baptism, we receive your letter, or accept your statement of faith you are a full member of Ebenezer Baptist Church with all rights and privileges.
If you have other questions, please call the Church Office at (704) 289-2632.
